Mein Deichbrand 2017 Festival Guide und Outfit

Festival

Festival

Fun and the pure joy of living:  for me, festivals are a welcome alternative to concerts. You can see a lot of groups  within a short period of time for a comparatively little price. This year I spent four days at the Deichbrand – a rock, pop and indie festival, taking place from July 20 to July 23 in Cuxhaven. The festival was attended by approx. 50.000 fans and tickets were available from 148 Euros.

I was lucky having been invited by HashtagLove and thus getting to know wonderful people – namely Cathy, Vicky, Jana, Louise, Daria, Franzi, Luca, Anna and Carina. From the first day we were a perfect team and we had a great time. Fortunately the weather too was on our side.

 Packing list

  • belly pocket
  • dishes for camper ( plates, mugs)
  • washing up liquid / sponge / cloth
  • camping stove
  • cooler / cooling bag
  • disposable barbecue
  • pavilion
  • camp chair

  • pain relievers
  • gum boots / flip flops

Unterbringung

Accomodation

We stayed in the comfort village with facilities including flush toilet, shower and power supply. Another advantage: we could leave everything outside over the night and nothing
was ripped off as is usually the case.

Line up

The top acts were Biffy Clyro, Billy Talent and Placebo. Moreover Annemaykantereit, Kraftclub, Boilers, Marteria, Cro, Trailerpark, 187 Strassenbande, Alle Farben and a lot more bands were there. My absolute highlights were the performances by Marteria and Annemaykanterei – incredibly sympathic guys and great voices! Here’s the complete Line up.

 Verpflegung

  • Tee/ Instantkaffee
  • Spagetti, Reis oder Couscous
  • Passierte Tomaten
  • Äpfel
  • Karotten
  • Nüsse
  • (Soja)milch
  • (viel!) Mineralwasser

Food and drinks

The classic is cold ravioli out of the can – cheap and lots of calories! Or you can have your sausages and veggies grilled on disposable barbecue. But there was also a big choice      of  tasty food ( 4 € and more ) to be found all over the festival area. I had falafel nearly every day…hmm! Here is a list of foodstuff you could bring with you to the festival:

  • crispbread / whole grain toast
  • cereals
  • tea / instant coffee
  • spaghetti , rice or couscous
  • tomato sauce
  • apples
  • carrots
  • nuts
  • milk ( soya )
  • ( a lot ) mineral water

Festival-Outfit

Festival outfit

When I think of festivals I immediately think of the wonderful Coachella outfits of the stars. Nevertheless, for me the festival out must, above all, be simple and practical. That’s why I love Jeans shorts combined with cropped tops and band shirts. Boots are ideally comfortable and waterproof in case of rainy days. Meanwhile not only glass bottles but also bagpacks and big bags are not allowed anymore on the festival area. Therefore my hip belly pocket became an  indispensable item. Amazingly the most important things ( very small wallet, sunglasses and lip stick)  had just fit in well.
